These instructions are written for Mac OS X 10.5-10.7 (Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion). See the Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) L2TP/IPsec Instructions.
To install the certificate:
Installation of the Golden Frog Certificate requires administrative privileges on your computer.
- Download the certificate and save it.
- Press the Apple Key + Shift + U (Or navigate to the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder)
- Import the certificate
- Open Keychain Access
- In the Keychains section, click System
- From the File menu, select Import, then select the certificate you downloaded. Enter your password, then for the certificate password, type "goldenfrog" (This is case-sensitive and has no space).
- You will see two new certificates in the System Keychain. Double-click each certificate, click Trust, and change the drop-down to Always Trust
To configure the L2TP/IPSec connection:
- In System Preferences, click Network Settings
- Click the Apple then click System Preferences
- Under Internet & Wireless, click Network
- Click + (the plus icon)
- Select VPN for the interface, L2TP over IPSec for the VPN Type, and type a descriptive name for the Service Name
- Click Create
- Select the newly created VPN connection
- Enter one of the host names from the VyprVPN servers list in the Server Address field.
- Type your Golden Frog Login (e-mail address) in the Account Name field
- Click Authentication Settings
- Enter your Golden Frog Password in the Password field
- Under Machine Authentication, click the radio button for Certificate. Click the Select button and choose the client certificate
- Click Advanced, check Send all traffic over VPN connection, then click OK
- Click Apply
To connect:
- Click the VPN icon in the menu bar
- Click Connect to your new VPN connection
To disconnect:
- Click the VPN icon in the menu bar
- Click Disconnect from your new VPN connection
